FAQ
What are your credentials?
Great question! Making sure your provider is qualified is extremely important.
I have been working in healthcare for nearly 30 years now. I started as a pharmacy technician in 1996 when I was in college for nursing. I then worked as an Intensive Care Registered Nurse for a decade before completing my Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2010.
Since incorporating Functional Medicine into my practice model, I have completed the AFMCP modules from the Institute of Functional Medicine and become a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner through Functional Medicine University. I’ve also completed many hours of continuing education outside these programs.
In 2025, I finally completed yoga teacher training in Hatha and Vinyasa yoga (I’ve been practicing yoga over 25 years – it was due time). The mind-body connection through yoga combined with a Functional Medicine approach is a beautiful way to honor yourself and use time honored traditions to connect.
I often feel rushed at the doctor. how are you different?
Unfortunately, healthcare is the largest business in our country. And as a business, it’s job is to make money. That largely means providers are pressured by their employers and insurancers to see as many people as they can in a predefined time. h
At Canopy Wellness, we are different. We don’t report to insurance providers and
Do you prescribe medications?
As a pharmacist, I have deep knowledge of medications and how they interact with the body, but I do not prescribe medications in this consulting role. I can help you understand your current regimen, identify possible side effects, and offer supplement and lifestyle strategies that support your overall plan.
What kinds of health issues do you help with?
I work with a range of concerns including fatigue, digestive issues, joint pain, hormone imbalance, inflammation, stress, and more. Many of my clients are dealing with symptoms their conventional labs say are “normal”, but they still don’t feel well.
What is Functional Medicine
Functional Medicine (FM) is what ought to be happening in the doctor’s office. It’s essentially a different way of looking at a person and their health and well-being
Instead of treating different parts of your body as different systems managed by different teams (cardio, endocrine, pulmonary), FM looks at your body as a whole and considers how things might be interacting to bring you to your current state of health.
Do you accept insurance?
No, I do not bill insurance directly. This allows me to provide you with a more comprehensive and personalized experience without the limitations and time constraints imposed by insurance companies.
Can you order labs?
Yes, I offer functional lab testing to get a deeper look at your gut health, hormones, inflammation, nutrient status, and more. These are often not covered by insurance, but they provide incredibly valuable insights into your overall health.
Additionally I partner with Rupa and Fullscript labs which allows me to order conventional labs as necessary. These are not billable through insurance, but are often time comparably priced.
What results can I expect?
Everyone is different, but many of my clients begin feeling improvements within the first few weeks—more energy, better sleep, improved digestion, and reduced inflammation. Our work is a partnership, and your commitment to change is a key part of the process.
